Oakland Public Education Fund realized the need to update the volunteer request processes that had been burdening their team with extensive manual upkeep. The process had limitations, and was essentially just a matter getting data from a form to Salesforce record. Even with that simplicity the data was not properly aligning with records in Salesforce, ultimately leaving the team with problematic data.”There were a lot of aspects that required upkeep.” Nathan noted. “If there were [any changes], suddenly it would no longer align with our records in Salesforce.”

Using forms to offer a customer portal

Solution

The team revolutionized volunteer management processes and volunteer forms by using multiple forms to create a customer portal experience for tracking progress or identifying next steps and incomplete forms. The portal featured forms pulling in Salesforce data that allowed users to check inquiry status and view next steps without accepting submissions.

The team also implemented Salesforce dynamic picklists to build complex expense submission forms, ensuring precise integration into Salesforce while offering an easy experience on the front-end. And to improve data accuracy, the team deployed workflows wit complex branching logic that created personalized form experiences in their customer portal.
