4 Tools for Consistent Custom Forms

Creating custom forms that stay consistent across your organization doesn’t have to be time-consuming or complicated. FormAssembly offers several built-in tools to help you standardize layouts, maintain brand alignment, and save time – without sacrificing flexibility.

Watch the clip below from our annual virtual user conference, FormFest 2025, to learn more, or read on to learn about the four tools FormAssembly offers to help you build consistent forms with ease.

1. Predefined Content

Predefined content is like a mini-template you can insert into any form. Whether it’s a single field, a group of fields, or an entire page, this feature helps you build forms quickly and consistently.

How it works:

  • Highlight the fields or sections you want to reuse.
  • Click the Options button and scroll to Add to Predefined Content.
  • Assign a name and category so you can easily find and reuse it later.

Predefined content preserves conditional logic, making it a major time-saver for more complex forms.

Customer Tip: By default, predefined content is only visible to the creator. Head to the Admin Dashboard to make it public across your instance.

2. Theme Customization

Custom themes allow you to create consistent, branded visuals across your forms, from logos and colors to fonts and layout.

You can customize themes by:

  • Selecting a base theme (e.g., Arctic Air).
  • Clicking the dropdown to Customize.
  • Adding your logo, adjusting sizes, and changing background or accent colors.

Once created, your custom theme can be used in any form. It can also be shared across your team by making it public in the Admin Dashboard.

Pro tip: Many teams loop in their marketing department to help build themes, ensuring brand consistency from day one.

3. Templates

Templates offer a fast and repeatable way to launch forms that already include best practices or specific use-case logic.

Types of templates include:

  • Public templates: Forms you or your team create and share internally.
  • Training templates: Pre-built learning tools that demonstrate features like conditional emails or multi-page logic.
  • Top 99 use cases: FormAssembly’s most common form templates—ready for you to adapt and use.

To make any of your own forms a template:

  • Open the form → go to the Collaboration tab → toggle on Make this a template.
  • As always, make it public in the Admin Dashboard to share with your team.

4. Branding Settings (Admin Dashboard)

The Admin Dashboard is your control center for branding. From here, you can define default headers, footers, and styles to ensure every form looks consistent – no matter who creates it.

Options include:

  • Page header/footer: Add global HTML for things like logos, taglines, or copyright.
  • PDF header/footer: Customize branding on downloaded or emailed PDF responses—think of it like a letterhead.
  • Head element: Add CSS or tracking scripts at a global level.

Note: Custom code in these sections is powerful, but support for HTML/CSS is limited—so involve a developer or your marketing team if needed.

Final Thoughts

With these four tools – Predefined Content, Themes, Templates, and Branding Settings – you can ensure every form your team builds is polished, on-brand, and consistent from top to bottom.
