FormAssembly Teammate Highlight: Rory Mahony
The FormAssembly team is always growing! We’re excited to welcome new members to the team and get to know them better. In this teammate highlight, we’re learning more about Rory Mahony, Partner Account Manager for the EMEA region at FormAssembly.
Name: Rory Mahony
Title: Partner Account Manager
FormAssembly Start Date: April 2020
1. What interested you about FormAssembly in the first place?
I was actually working in the ecosystem a few years previous to this, and I remember seeing the brand at trade shows. I was never familiar with how it fully worked, but my old manager knew Jaret and made an introduction, saying that the company and role would be an ideal fit. Also the remote working aspect was a big attraction to me.
2. What’s your favorite thing about your job?
Being able to “carry the flag” in terms of creating new partnerships and revenue out here in EMEA. It’s exciting to be an owner of this, and I look forward to representing the brand to many different partners in the region.
3. What excites you most about your position and growth opportunity at FormAssembly?
There’s a huge opportunity for the potential growth of our region, and to be someone that can directly impact that growth definitely excites me. The possibility of having a leadership position in a few years for EMEA is also enticing.
4. What unique qualities do you bring to the FormAssembly team?
My irresistible Irish charm and wit, of course! Kidding, I would like to think I’m empathetic, I bring a fresh set of eyes on something that can’t be solved, and I love to be part of a team.
5. What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?
Any typical mid-week evening you will find me at the “bars” in the public park near my house, where I will be practicing my form and strength doing calisthenics. It really struck a chord with me as I gave up on the gym countless times. Aside from that, each weekend I make it my duty to find undiscovered gems of restaurants that are dotted around Madrid. For my birthday, we had Armenian cuisine.
6. What’s something not a lot of people know about you?
I worked at a State Fair Carnival in Del Mar, California in 2010. I spoke three languages a day (English, Irish, and Spanish) between my American, Mexican, and fellow Irish colleagues. I served customers beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. It was also very fun to trade food with other traders—the carney code!
7. If you were a breakfast cereal, what would you be and why?
Oats, definitely. There is a famous oatmeal and porridge brand near my house—I call it “God’s Dandruff.” I’m big on nutrition, so I love a bowl of oats with yoghurt, fresh fruit, and honey in the morning. The winning combo with a coffee!
8. Who was your role model/hero as a child? Why?
It depends on which field. Sports: Ronan O’Gara. He played rugby for Ireland. Writer: Ernest Hemingway. Musician: Rory Gallagher.
9. What is your spirit animal? Why?
My spirit animal for sure would be a deer. I like to roam freely, and they seem like pretty peaceful creatures too. So, fairly similar to myself!
