Talk Data to Me: Keshet Leverages FormAssembly to Advance Inclusion Initiatives

Jodi Nemser-Abrahams,

Director of Data and Systems

What is Keshet’s Mission?

Keshet is a national nonprofit organization that works towards full LGBTQ inclusion and equality in Jewish life. The organization offers a variety of programs including teen retreats, educational leadership sessions, and advocacy initiatives. They work throughout “all facets of Jewish life — synagogues, Hebrew schools, day schools, youth groups, summer camps, social-service organizations and other communal agencies.”

The Need

What challenges does FormAssembly help Keshet overcome?

“We were using a different form tool which had very minor integration with Salesforce. It was almost a hindrance because the data didn’t go where we wanted it to,” Nemser-Abrahams said.

Across the board, there was a standardization issue, because data that was available through form collection methods was not available in the parallel Salesforce accounts. In terms of administrative upkeep, it was increasingly difficult to make sure all information was uploaded properly to Salesforce. Additionally, there was an inability to set up recurring gifts, which was an important factor for an organization consistently accepting and tracking donations.

The Solution

What are the top reasons for choosing FA as the ideal data solution?

“The ability to query records in a really complex way, to use formulas, to use conditional logic and have dependent mapping—all of these things stand out. FormAssembly has a lot of flexibility,” Nemser-Abrahams explained.

Additionally, FormAssembly has revolutionized the way Keshet organizes and collects donations. Through a new “Pay My Commitment” form in conjunction with Salesforce, Keshet can remind donors of their pledges, prefill their gift identification number, and allow them to submit payments online. The transformation dramatically increased their financial turnaround, allowing them to secure more donations to fund programming.

Use Cases

Intake Form

Intake Form

Keshet’s newest project involves a revamped system that they’ve implemented to better track the intake process when staff members first make new connections. To have an aggregate view of what was happening during the intake process, they worked diligently to set up custom objects in Salesforce that would receive all the information collected on a form.

A key strategy was to make the FormAssembly intake form accessible from within Salesforce via a custom link on the Account and Contact page layouts.

When a Keshet staff member clicks the “Create an Intake!” link, FormAssembly’s Salesforce Prefill Connector populates the form with Account and Contact information already in Salesforce. They can then verify this information during the intake conversation, and update it if needed. This makes the process faster for staff and ensures the most current data is on file.

Intake forms now include conditional logic, designed especially for the types of intakes that Keshet regularly completes (consultations, trainings, and speaking engagements).

Nemser-Abrahams worked closely with staff who complete intakes to create a system that was designed with their everyday work in mind. To make the forms user-friendly, they implemented descriptive text and instructions for clarity. They also added custom CSS and repeatable sections to make forms more visual and convenient for users who need to submit them quickly while on the phone or working through a fast-paced consultation.

“Having the prefill connector is also a handy feature because it means the staff member can focus on the actual intake,” Nemser-Abrahams said.

Keshet’s donation forms are used in conjunction with the Authorize.net connector, which enables them to accept and process credit card payments through their forms.

Keshet uses FormAssembly to create registration forms for all of their events. For programs with complex registration processes, they can use FormAssembly’s features to establish workflows to keep information organized. The organization currently makes use of over 50 active forms.
