It’s the first Friday of the month, which means we’re introducing another member of the FormAssembly team! Today, meet Steven Watkins, our Email Analyst.
Name: Steven Watkins
Title: Email Marketing Analyst
Time at FormAssembly: 2 years

1. What interested you about FormAssembly in the first place?

I was interested in FormAssembly because it was headquartered in Bloomington, IN, and that’s where I did my undergraduate studies at Indiana University’s School of Informatics. At the time, FormAssembly was only 12 people, and the size of the company was very attractive because it meant that I could potentially have a large part in its growth, and I feel that I have over the past two years!

2. What do you love about what you do?

I love the amount of freedom that I have in my position. Having a 100 percent remote culture removes the stresses and strains that make one dread work in the first place. There are many reasons I love FormAssembly, but most of all it’s because this company is focused on its culture, clients, inclusiveness, and success.

3. What excites you most about your position and growth opportunity at FormAssembly?

My position in email marketing was at the ground level and it’s something that we hadn’t done a lot of as a company when I started in it. It’s been exciting to be involved with the foundation of it and to be a part of building upon it and improving our relationships with our clients. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about our clients and the many ways that they prefer to engage with us and our content.

4. What has been your proudest moment at FormAssembly?

My proudest moment at FormAssembly is really an annual thing, there is no one moment that I’d like to cherish more than others because they all mean a lot to me. However, our reunions are a very fun time and a very proud moment for me. Our company reunions, held each year in September, is when we’re all together enjoying the spirit of one another, sharing our successes, remembering our failures, and each year that I’ve been a part of this team we’ve had more folks join FormAssembly and share this moment, which is actually about a week long. What a moment, right?

5. What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?

I like playing bass guitar and recently I’ve acquired some recording equipment and some other instruments like a 6-string acoustic and a midi keyboard. I enjoy all forms of rock ‘n roll, most of all RUSH. My dog Dexter and I take daily walks and enjoy hiking and camping together. Also, Dexter doesn’t like it, but I rock climb, too.

6. What’s something not a lot of people know about you?

I’m a pretty hardcore PC gamer. I typically log about 35-40 hours of game time from Monday to Sunday, most of it being on the weekends. My games of choice have been ARK: Survival Evolved, but I’ve played World of Warcraft since closed beta 2003-2004. My longest streak was a 27-hour session leveling a mage on WoW from 1-60. Yes, I ate and functioned properly. Healthy gaming is important. 🙂

7. Who was your role model/hero as a child?

My favorite fictional hero was Superman, simply because of his willpower. All these people that he could melt and he chooses what’s right: helping them.
My real-life hero though is my father. He’s taught me many things in life, and I wouldn’t be where I am without him.

8. What’s your spirit animal?

So I actually googled this because I’ve never given it much thought until now; I’m a turtle. I feel that I tend to approach things in a paced and structured way and prefer to have a sense of fulfillment in doing something right the first time. Slow and steady wins the race!
