How well do you know the awesome people behind FormAssembly? This series is the place to learn all about our incredible team members. This week we’re profiling Deborah Kim, our Senior Product Manager.
Name:Â Deborah Kim
Title:Â Director of Product
With FormAssembly Since:Â September 2012
1. What interested you about FormAssembly in the first place?
I was excited about joining a small team that was growing a solid customer base and touching so many verticals. Collecting data is part and parcel of any organization, and it’s a challenging bottleneck for so many people. Since I was the first marketer on the team, it was also an opportunity to champion a brand voice and design, which made it doubly exciting. Plus, I’d never worked in tech before!
2. What do you love about what you do?
Product management is a huge Venn diagram. I love that I get to interface with every department (and work with extremely talented, friendly people), synthesize feedback and use cases from our customers and stakeholders, and lay the groundwork to design, build, and ship our product.
3. What excites you most about your position and growth opportunity at FormAssembly?
I’m so thankful that FormAssembly has consistently given me the means and resources to grow in my career. I transitioned to the product team in 2017 from marketing, and it’s been amazing to collaborate with developers, designers, and QA engineers to shape FormAssembly. Setting product strategy and directly improving user experience is something I only dreamed of 5 years ago — and I’m excited for the future of FormAssembly!
4. What has been your proudest moment at FormAssembly, and what are you looking forward to achieving?
There’s tons I’m proud of in my time here, but I’m especially looking forward to our product roadmap for 2018. We’ve got big things planned and we’re working towards the next Form Builder release, just to name one!
5. What unique qualities do you bring to the FormAssembly team?
My versatility and my irrepressible love of spreadsheets.
6. What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?
Reading, cooking, long walks, and learning front-end technologies.
7. What’s something not a lot of people know about you?
I have a background in creative writing and literary publishing.
8. If you were a breakfast cereal, what would you be and why?
My mother-in-law makes an absolutely stellar granola. It’s got toasted coconut flakes and dried fruit, and it gets caramelized and more complex once it’s baked in the oven! Bonus: it multitasks as a snack.
