Welcome to the Northwestern University Student IYVS2007 Application

*PLEASE NOTE: NORTHWESTERN APPLICATIONS WILL BE DUE FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9th at 5:00pm CST The International Youth Volunteerism Summits seeks to bring together a driven group of young people from around the world to connect with social entrepreneurs and global change-makers. In doing so, IYVS hopes to build their skills and capacities to engage in responsible, effective, and sustainable change around the world. Not only is IYVS one of the only youth global engagement events in the United States, it is one of the most exclusive and high-demand student-run conferences in the country. It is unique among its peers in that it offers real opportunities after the Summit ends in the form of an active online alumni community and opportunities for outcome funding for projects designed by Summit delegates. In its first year, IYVS awarded two packages worth more than $10,000 total to alumni projects. Above all, IYVS hopes to engender a greater sense of community among the world's young people through partnership in change with a view toward a better tomorrow. IYVS wants to know what vision for this you have. How should this cooperation be conducted? What community service areas are best? What models should we strive toward? As you fill out this application, please keep questions like these in mind.

IYVS is in the process of obtaining the resources to support and help implement one volunteer-driven project proposed by an IYVS delegate. Imagining a small scale project, please write a 400-500 word project proposal. Please include in your proposal the following sections and any other you find relevant. Keep in mind that it is a primary objective of IYVS to generate and sustain opportunities for its participant community. Your ability to incorporate IYVS participants in your project is important to us. 1) The community development issue that the project addresses 2) Its method for addressing the issue 3) The resources needed for implementation 4) Problems you anticipate facing 5) How your project includes or engages IYVS delegates. Your demonstration of the proposal's potential for success is extremely important. There is no limit to the scale or location of this project, but you must demonstrate your awareness of the issues you face based on where you are proposing to work or how big your goals are. Novelty and outside-the-box thinking are also valuable to us. Please indicate which general topic areas are most relevant to your project proposal and are of greatest interest to you.
